Melvin Phillips (born January 6, 1942 in Shelby, North Carolina), is a former American professional football player who played his entire 12-year NFL career with the San Francisco 49ers. He started in 93 of 147 games played, with 12 career interceptions for 129 yards and a touchdown. He was an assistant coach with the Miami Dolphins from 1985 to 2007, in charge of defensive backs.
