The Long Island Sharks football team represents Long Island University located in Brooklyn, New York and Brookville, New York.
On October 3, 2018, Long Island University announced it was combining the athletic programs of its C.W. Post (Brookville) and Brooklyn campuses. Before the merger, the football team was known as the LIU Post Pioneers and was a member of the NCAA Division II Northeast-10 Conference. On May 16, 2019, the school announced its new athletic nickname would be the Sharks.
As a result of the merger, the Sharks moved up to the NCAA FCS Northeast Conference for the 2019 season. The Sharks play their home games at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium in Brookville. The stadium was previously known as Hickox Field prior to a renovation project and new naming rights deal in 2014. Ths Sharks are coached by Bryan Collins.
Prior to 2012, the LIU Post Pioneers were known as the C.W. Post Pioneers before the school announced a rebranding on January 1, 2012.
