John Bonamego (born August 14, 1963) is an American football head coach, serving as head coach of the Central Michigan Chippewas of the Mid-American Conference. He has two decades of college and pro coaching experience. He played college football at Central Michigan.

Bonamego has also coached for Maine, Lehigh and Army at the college level. He has been an assistant for the Jacksonville JaguarsGreen Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints in the NFL.

Prior to his first game as Central Michigan head coach, Bonamego announced in June 2015 that he was diagnosed with cancer in his tonsils, but that the cancer was "very treatable". Two months later, Bonamego finished his radiation treatment at the University of Michigan and was on the sidelines for the Chippewas' season-opening game against Oklahoma State.
