Collegiate Career[edit | edit source]

2011 season[edit | edit source]

Driskel started his college career in 2011 as a true freshman behind starting quarterback John Brantley. Driskel played in 5 games in the 2011 season against Florida Atlantic, UAB, Kentucky, Alabama, and Auburn. Driskel played very minimally in his first four games, however in his game against Auburn, Driskel went 9-18 with 75 yards.

2012 season[edit | edit source]

Driskel was named the starting quarterback for the Gators to start his sophomore year in 2012. In the first game of the season, Driskel had one punt for 15 yards. He and the Gators won their first seven games of the season and were ranked number 3 until they faced their rivals, the Georgia Bulldogs. The Gators lost the game 9-17, with Driskel going 15-27 with 191 yards, 0 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. The team won out the rest of the regular season and Driskel made it to his first bowl game as a starter against the Louisville Cardinals. Despite being heavy favorites, Driskel and the Gators lost to the Cardinals 23-33. In the game, Driskel went 16-29 with 175 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions.

2013 season[edit | edit source]

Boston Red Sox[edit | edit source]

Before the start of the 2013 college football season, the Boston Red Sox of Major League Baseball drafted Driskel with the 863rd overall pick of the 2013 MLB Draft [1] and he later went on to sign with the Sox[2]. Driskel will play minor league ball for the Red Sox for the next few years but will stay the starting quartberack of the Gators and intends to pursue a career in professional football before he pursues a baseball career.

2014 season[edit | edit source]

The Gators underperformed in 2014 with a 7-5 record. After the season, it was reported that he would leave Florida to join the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs.[3] As a graduate transfer, Driskel will be eligible to play for the Bulldogs in 2015. In 2016, Jeff Driskel was selected by the San Francisco 49ers.
