Alex Wojciechowicz was born in South River, New Jersey on August 12, 1915 and died in Forked River, New Jersey on July 13, 1992. Wojciechowicz was a linebacker and center for both the Detroit Lions (1938-1946) and the Philadelphia Eagles (1946-1950). He went to college at Fordham University and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1968. The detective Stan Wojciehowicz on the TV show Barney Miller is named after him in his honor.
