The 2018 New England Patriots season was the franchise's upcoming 49th season in the National Football League, the 59th overall and the 19th under head coach Bill Belichick. The Patriots entered the season as two time defending AFC champions, and attempted and succeeded to become the first team since the 1990–93 Buffalo Bills to appear in three consecutive Super Bowls.
Offseason[]
Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels was announced as being hired as the new Indianapolis Colts' head coach.[1] McDaniels abruptly rejected the offer citing personal reasons, deciding to stay a part of the Patriots' organization.[2] The controversy surrounding this decision led then McDaniels' agent, Bob LaMonte to terminate their professional relationship.[3]
Defensive coordinator Matt Patricia was hired to serve as the head coach of the Detroit Lions.[4]
