The 1986 Los Angeles Raiders season was their 17th in the league, 27th overall, and fifth while playing in Los Angeles. They were unable to improve upon their previous season's output of 12–4, winning only eight games.[1] The team failed to qualify for the playoffs for the first time in five seasons.
Following the season, head coach Tom Flores was relieved of his coaching duties, and reassigned within the Raider organization. Offensive Coordinator Mike Shanahan was promoted to replace him.
