Missed scoring opportunities for BYU...Mark Bellini dropped two passes on first quarter series, one seemed certain TD...in second quarter, Kozlowski threw just wide of open David Mills on option pass that could have scored...in third quarter, Adam Haysbert dropped ball that hit him square in hands at five that would have been a 44-yd TD

BYU nursed injuries...earlier in the week, OT Randy Rawlinson underwent knee surgery...C Trevor Matich limped on ankle that forced him to miss Tulsa game...Kozlowski needed a shot for fractured elbow and hung most of the game but refused to come out (playing in front of family, mother full-blooded Hawaiian)

On BYU's first series, co-captin OL Craig Garrick injured his right knee (five years earlier, injured left knee that left him unable to walk for a year), cried on sidelines "Please don't let it be bad, please don't let it be bad"

BYU: Smith 4 yard run (pass failed)...Morrell INT started drive

UH: David Aguiar recovered blocked punt in end zone (Spelman kick)...Aguiar blocked a Johnson punt

UH: Spleman 33 yard field goal...Rich Miano INT started the drive, Bosco overthrew Kozlowski over the middle

4th Quarter

UH: Spelman 17 yard field goal, 10:02...Hawaii went 84 yds in 21 plays and took up ten minutes but at goal line, BYU defenders knew what was coming (DT Brad Smith "They either quarterback sneak or run the option.")...they stopped three straight sneaks...on third down, Morrell stepped up and timed the snap, jumped over line, grabbed Cherry by shoulder pads and held on ("I just had a feeling. Something told me to do it.")

BYU: Kozlowski 25 yard pass from Bosco (pass failed), 5:24...Bosco, who had been asked at halftime if he wanted to continue, put together a drive; 29-yard pass to Mills, 29-yard pass to Kozlowski, who sidestepped defender and ran to the 14, after a penalty and a sack, BYU faced 3rd and 21 from UH 25, Bosco went to Kozlowski on the post, who caught perfect strike between two defenders halfway in the end zone ("Any idiot could have caught it."

With 1:01 left, Al Noga blocked a punt and recovered at BYU 16...BYU defense held for four straight incompletions
