Indiana 21, Purdue 10

File:Placeholder

Summary[]

Dedicating the game to walk-on Scott Etherton, who had lost his life during the week in a car accident, Indiana rode Darrick Burnett to an emotional victory.

Burnett carried a school-record 43 times for 196 yards as the Hoosiers kept Mark Herrmann (10/22, 164 yards) off the field and the Old Oaken Bucket for another year.

Indiana's secondary picked off Herrmann three times, twice by Dale Keneipp and twice in the fourth quarter.

Scott Arnett sneaked for a pair of touchdowns, first in the third quarter and then to clinch the win in the fourth.

The Boilermakers had opened the scoring with a four-yard run by John Skibinski to cap an 80-yard drive after Jerome King had halted an Indiana drive with an end zone interception.

Stats[]

PUR: Fred Arrington 23 tackles (14 solo)
