The 1968 Oakland Raiders season began with the team trying to improve on their 13–1 record from 1967. The 1968 season was the ninth season in Oakland and in the American Football League. The Raiders went 12-2, and advanced to the AFL Championship, before losing at New York, 27-23. After the season head coach John Rauch resigned, because of the constant interference in coaching decisions by Al Davis. He was replaced by linebacker coach John Madden.
