Harvard managed to score 16 points in the final 42 seconds of the game to earn a tie with Yale. The following day, the Harvard Crimson student newspaper celebrated the Crimson's comeback with the headline, "Harvard Beats Yale, 29-29". The headline would be used as the title of a 2008 documentary about the 1968 game. The tie also ended Yale's 16-game winning streak. Yale's 17-game unbeaten streak would end with a loss to Connecticut in the opening game of the 1969 season.
