The 1961 Oakland Raiders season began with the team trying to improve on their 6–8 record from 1960. The 1961 season was the second season in Oakland and in the American Football League, as they played their home games at San Francisco's Candlestick Park while Frank Youell Field was under construction in Oakland. Two games into the season head coach Eddie Erdelatz was replaced by Marty Feldman. In addition, Wayne Valley and Ed McGah bought out most of the Raiders' initial partners, to try to end the internal feuding. It ended with the Raiders finishing last in the AFL West with a 2–12 record.
